“Khampa Airlift to Tibet” depicts a C-130B operated by an aircrew from Civil Air Transport—a CIA Air Proprietary—dropped 16 Khampa guerrillas and 10,000 pounds of arms and equipment. Two smokejumpers from Missoula, Montana served as jumpmasters. Heavy duty protective jumpsuits and steerable parachutes—patterned after early smokejumper designs—enabled the guerrillas to land on an unmarked drop zone at 14,000 ft. elevation, 150 miles northeast of Lhasa without injury. The Tibetans’ mission was to organize resistance against the invading Chinese forces.

Reproduced on Archival Museum Quality paper stock, each “Khampa Airlift to Tibet” print is individually inspected and signed by the artist. An open edition print signed by the artist only is $65. A special limited edition of 100 signed and numbered artist proofs are available for $165 in the 22" x 28" format.

“Khampa Airlift to Tibet” is also available as a Giclée (pronounced "zhee-clay'), which refers to a 7-color print which utilizes the latest in digital technology to reproduce art with breathtaking accuracy. This is the largest and most expensive version of our print line, usually measuring an overall 42" inches wide, and printed on museum quality Hahnemuhle paper for $495. A near perfect replica of the original painting, Giclée prints are limited to only 50 examples of each image, and are created for the most discriminating collectors.
