Plane Type:X-15

One of three X-15A's built serial # 56-6670, is mainly made up of titanium and stainless steel with some aluminum for internal use. It is covered with Inconel-X nickel alloy steel to withstand high temperatures. A white coating of Emerson Electric T-500 albative material was used when external fuel tanks were added. During test flights in 1967, a maximum speed of Mach 6.7 was achieved.
