Plane Type: Spitfire IV

Jerry Collinsworth enlisted in the Army Air Forces in August 1941 and volunteered for flight training. Jerry was assigned to the 307th Fighter Squadron, 31st Fighter Group in England that was equipped with Spitfires. The Group was soon flying out of Oran, Algeria in support of the Allied invasion of North Africa in November 1942. By May 6th, flying out of Feriana Tunisia Jerry was credited with downing 3 FW-190s and a .25 probable credit for a Messerschmitt Me-109. On May 6th, flying a Spitfire IV Jerry destroyed his fourth FW-190 as depicted in the above Lithograph. On June 11th he destroyed the FW-190 that made him an Ace. Jerry ended the war with 6 victories, all FW-190s and is among a handful of Aces that scored all their victories flying the British Spitfire. Additional Pilot "Ace" Signature:
