We are gathered here, representatives of the major warring powers, to conclude a solemn agreement whereby peace may be restored. This statement was made by General Douglas MacArthur during the Surrender Ceremony of Japan in World War II. The ceremony took place aboard the deck of the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945. The ceremony lasted twenty-three minutes and was broadcast throughout the world. This print shows the signing of the instrument of surrender and is matted to include a cross section of the actual teak deck recovered from the USS Missouri. Certificate of Authenticity included.
