One of a kind!
Here is your chance to own this one of a kind 12 cylinder, Allison Block Desk. The primary powerplant of the new generation of USAAC fighters, the P-38 Lightning, P-39 Airacobra and P-40 Warhawk, the proud owner of this desk will become the envy of their aviation friends and the only one on their airfield to own this unique and very heavy desk.
It took the fabricator one year to essemble just the block. He had the block powdered coated three times. All of the main cylinders, and studs were seized in place and he was only able to make one or two turns a week, "what a job"! There are over two hundred chrome acorn nuts on all the studs and the base is made from birds eye maple and the frames or legs are also hand made. The glass top measures 34" X 70". It is comprised of two pieces stacked together and totals 2" thick (one inch thick each). There is a letter of recruting of AVG personal from Mr. Dave Harris who was a AVG Pilot and Personal Assistant to General Cheunault. The Life magazines adds are also included and are between the glass.
