This new Aviation Book, The Huey in Vietnam: Bell's UH-1 at War By David Doyle is now available to order.
Few military vehicles are as emblematic of the United States' presence in Vietnam as the Bell Huey UH-1-series helicopters. The Huey was practically everywhere, whether it was functioning as troop transport for airborne assault, supply transports, aerial gunships, or medical evacuation. The "Iroquois," as it was officially named, was fondly known as the "Huey," a nickname derived from its early model designation of HU-1A. During America's participation in Vietnam, the Huey, later dubbed UH-1, was a workhorse, and 11 Huey crewmen were awarded the Medal of Honor. This illustrated book tells the tale of this renowned aircraft and the soldiers who flew it through meticulously researched archive documents and images.
