At Williams AFB, Arizona, on May 2, 1977, First Lieutenant Christine E. Schott, USAF, became the first woman in the Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training Program to solo in a Northrop T-38A Talon. She was in Class 77-08, which started on September 19, 1976. Captain Christine E. Schott would go on to become the first woman in the Air Force to qualify and fly the C-9A Nightingale medical transport plane.
