The effectiveness of American Pilots flying from bases on Guadalcanal was a key element to the success of the Pacific Campaign. Here a Navy SBD Dauntless lifts off the dirt runway at Henderson Field. Navy, Marine and Air Corps pilots all made up the Cactus Air Force based on "The Canal". Personally autographed by Cactus Air Force Pilots Hal Buel and Ralph Weymouth.
