American Fighter Ace:
Col. Ralph Parr earned his wings in 1944, and flew Lockheed P-38 Lightnings in the Pacific during the last year of the Second World War.

He went on to fly in Korea in the new Lockheed F-80 Shooting Star, then North American F-86 Sabres, managing to shoot down a total of ten enemy aircraft. On July 27, 1953, the day of the armistice, then Captain Parr scored the last aerial 'kill' of the War by shooting down a Soviet Navy Ilyushin Il-12.

Col. Ralph Parr's military career spanned 34 years and three wars, giving him a total of 641 combat missions, including two tours and 427 missions in Vietnam where he was an F-4 Phantom II squadron commander. With over 60 American and foreign decorations, Ralph has the further distinction of being the only man ever to be awarded both the Distinguished Service Cross and its successor, the Air Force Cross, the nation's second highest decoration for valor.
