"Fuselage Light" is an actual piece of "Merlin's Magic" fuselage that was damaged in the oxygen bottle incident in 2006.
This aluminum forms the top of the fuselage directly behind the P-51 bubble canopy. In fact you can see where the canopy slide rail nests in the front edge. Also visible is is the top part of the air force star painted on both sides and on the left side there is a jagged hole where part of the oxygen bottle tore thru when it exploded. There is a small piece of aluminum former attached on the inside. At both ends a piece of white acrylic has been fitted to the fuselage contour. An aluminum brace was fitted across the top inside to support a standard electrical box and to hold the ends of 2 lengths of aircraft cable. The cables are 6 feet of 3/16" vinyl coated stainless steel and are meant to hang the light from directly overhead. There is a 4-bulb adjustable light fixture installed to light the translucent graphics at the ends plus give a warm glow down.
A real unique piece for the Plane Junkie who doesn't quite have everything yet, but would be closer with this piece of air race history. Use it as a Pool Table light or for the Dining Room Chandelier, either way it will get noticed!
