At the start of the Korean War, air cover was provided as Americans evacuated Inchon Harbor. On June 27, 1950, a pair of North Korean fighters appeared out of the overcast and jumped four North American F-82 Twin Mustangs orbiting over Kimpo Air Base. This painting depicts Lts. ‘Skeeter’ Hudson and Carl Fraser jettisoning fuel tanks before making the first US aerial victory of the war.
