Werner Möelders leads a mixed group of Bf-109Es on a mission across the English Channel toward England in mid-August 1940. At the time, Molders was commandant of II./JG 2 based in Pihen-lčs-Guīnes, France. He was a rising star in the Luftwaffe, but his life would be cut short when he died in a transport plane crash in 1941.
