Plane Type:McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom
Mission Description from Charles Tupper.
I was en route from Taklhi to UT after a typhoon-evac in June of 1972 and we caught an F-4, dangerously low on fuel in a thunderstorm. Both the receiver and the tanker had to weave though the turbulence and the storm to make the transfer and the F-4 was considered a "save". It was the wildest ride I ever took in many years of USAF flying as a crew member "in the back" (first a crew chief, then a flight nurse).
