On 14 October, 1947 at 10:22 am, Capt. Yeager flew the Bell X-1 at a speed of 670mph (Mach 1.06) breaking the sound barrier for the first time in human history. Yeager christened the first X-1 "Glamorous Glennis" after his wife, as was his P-51's in WWII. There was an earlier version of the art work.
