P-51s of the 328th Fighter Squadron soar high above towering cumulus clouds over East Anglia in November 1944. Led by Major George Preddy, the P-51 pilots prepare to escort a large formation of B-17s on yet another arduous long range mission to Germany.

• Major ALDEN P. RIGBY - In his P-51 named Eleen and Jerry he flew 76 combat missions and is credited with 5 aerial victories, including several during the German attack of Operation Bodenplatte.
• First Lieutenant ROY WANDA - Assigned to the 486th Fighter Squadron in February 1945, he flew 31 combat missions in his P-51 Danny Boy.

• Major General CUTHBERT "BILL" PATTILLO - His P-51 was named Sweet and Lovely and in 135 combat missions he was credited with destroying an Me-262 jet in aerial combat plus another 6 on the ground until he was shot down in April 1945 and taken as a POW.
