LtCol Tim Duffy of the 102nd FW, Massachusetts Air National Guard makes his initial pass over the South tower just moments after it had been hit. Scrambled from Otis Air National Guard Base shortly after the first airliner slammed into the North Tower, the F-15 Eagles arrived just a moment too late to prevent the second tower from being hit. In Rick Herter's striking work, the lead Eagle flown by Duffy makes a reconnaissance pass over the South Tower just moments after impact.

Signatures (paper editions only):

  • LtCol Tim DUFFY
  • Major Dan NASH
