 Product Description

STS-72 photographic print signed by Mission Specialist Winston Scott

Ret. Capt. Winston E. Scott, USN. was assigned to the STS-72 as Mission Specialist 2 (flight engineer) and EVA (spacewalker). He was accepted into NASA’s astronaut training program in April of 1992 having already achieved an accomplished career as a naval aviator and aerospace engineering officer. Scott took part in the final EVA of the mission, working alongside Leroy Chiao as they tested installment hardware. Finally, as part of a spacesuit performance evaluation, he was angled towards deep space and suspended from a satellite platform in temperatures well below 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The entire walk lasted six hours and fifty-four minutes– the longest of the flight.

This framed presentation captures dramatic images from the mission, featuring the moment as Scott exits the airlock of the Space Shuttle Endeavour on January 17th, 1996 at 5:40 UTC. Each limited-edition photographic print has been individually signed by Winston Scott. Certificate of Authenticity included.
